My goal with Your Career Space is to revolutionise how we share who we are and what we do. I'm aware of those searching for a new role or a return to the workplace who are faced with traditional recruitment models and wonder where a Career Story fits in. A Career Story adds depth to a job application and can be flexed in many ways, including a 50-word version, 250-word version, and 500-word version.

Most recruitment models focus on a seamless progression from one job to another, ignoring the value found in the gaps. In these gaps, the magic happens; people discover who they are and what value they bring. Climbing the ladder is one way, but experiencing work with depth and breadth is another. The outdated standards of success need to change, and through career storytelling, I aim to redefine those standards.

As a certified yoga and meditation teacher, I balance the challenges of professional life with philosophies on human motivation and quality of life. I leverage my corporate experience and inner work practices to bring a holistic approach to professional development, empowering people to fall in love with their unique stories.

Join me on this transformative journey, and let’s elevate your professional and personal life together.

Lisa Thompson

Hi, I'm Lisa

In a professional landscape where equity remains paramount, I'm passionate about a workforce that embraces the uniqueness of everyone's career path.

With over two decades of experience in Retail Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Consumer Experience Design for global brands such as Nike, Burberry, Selfridges, and Gap, I've led teams, crafted strategies, and curated memorable consumer experiences worldwide.

This journey led me to establish The Space Atelier, specialising in bespoke design for physical and digital spaces. Launched at the end of 2019, the pandemic soon rendered my services for physical spaces unnecessary. During lockdown, I devoted my time to studying digital marketing, social media, and copywriting and earned a diploma in interior design and architectural drawing.

Like many others, I found myself transformed after the pandemic. While I continued my services, I felt a persistent nudge for something more. In 2023, a paradigm shift inspired me to view careers as dynamic portfolios rather than linear paths, unlocking a new perspective and a desire to learn more.

My exploration brought me to the heart of women's career stories. I observed a pattern: women often communicate their journeys more modestly than their male counterparts. Delving deeper, I researched how to harness the diverse skills, attributes, and experiences acquired throughout our careers. In June 2023, I developed a framework, which I now call 'The Career Story Framework', and began to experiment with workshops that shared this method.

Next, I wanted to package my physical and digital space design services with career design services. At the end of 2023, I entered an accelerator program with the desire to merge all of my ideas. I was challenged to pick one idea. This was the perfect moment to go all in and develop the 'Career Spaces' concept.

The first iteration, Her Career Space, launched in December 2023, guiding mid-career women to break glass walls and embrace their narratives. However, as people outside this demographic reached out, I realised the problem I was addressing was not unique to women but a universal human issue. My new customer research revealed two main challenges individuals face with their careers: making sense of their experiences today (connecting the career narratives) and aligning with their career goals and aspirations.

This concept is unique and was developed after months of conversations, talks, sketches, and research. The most critical step in any work is embodying who you are and your fullest potential. I see a shift in my clients. Sharing their stories out loud and on paper, they objectively see themselves in a new light.
